Acts of solidarity

We are currently evaluating this three-year socially engaged art project - Acts of Solidarity - which has paired three artists with experience of displacement with a community and arts organisation, aiming to explore issues of identity and belonging, and to challenge exclusion and inequality in the arts.

The three artists are Aliaskar Abarkas, David Adeyemi and Kim Chen. Each artist has been commissioned to create a piece of work in collaboration with one organisation. These are: Mouth That Roars, Caribbean Social Forum and All Change. The project is exploring what meaningful, caring and equitable socially engaged art can and should look like, particularly for those with experience of displacement.

With this evaluation, like many of our projects, we are taking a co-produced, trauma-informed approach. At the project start, we led a dynamic evaluation workshop with Autograph, the three artists and representatives of the partner organisations to explore aspirations for the project and to co-produce measures of success to inform the evaluation framework.

We used insights from this workshop and one-on-one follow-up interviews to design the evaluation framework and tools. Attentive to the different needs and styles of the various project participants, we designed tailored evaluation tools to enable simple and aligned data collection that is also creative and complex.
